I've had good luck with Boyd's. They take a little fitting, but I bed all my rifles anyway, so it's no biggie to me.

+1 on Boyds. Reasonably priced and excellent quality. I've used them on 5 or 6 rifle projects and have been very pleased. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

I have a Weatherby Vanguard in 25-06 ( 1986 vintage ) that I am wanting to re-stock onto a thumbhole. However, I am not wanting to give up the BEAUTY of the factory stock. This is tufffff.

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR BEAUTY OR Accuracy? Sometimes one has to sacrifice.

I want both beauty and accuracy. Any comments on Stockys? Boyds doesn't make what I want, I checked with them.

It is more of what I don't want and that is the slots cut into the forearm for cooling. Boyd's milling program cuts them and they can't pull it early. Stockys does not have the slots.

In guess you have your own reasons for not wanting the cooling slots. ?

I put a laminated stock on a Ruger M77 .223. Love the looks, but hate how HEAVY it is.

The rifle has a wood stock now, I just wanted the thumbhole feature. I am shooting the gun from a rest so weight is not a factor.

Stocky's stocks are good too. If accuracy is your game, it is a simple matter of installing a pilar and bedding it properly. Those two things can make all the difference in the world.
FWIW I do that with all stocks I buy that are not factory. The only 2 I haven't are a McMillan and a Bell & Carlson. They didn't need it.
