If its any consolation, it is fixable, and Smith & Wesson will do it free of charge. I had an older Model 29 with similar problems, and Smith took care of it for me.
But, your getting it to them? And back? I couldn't say.

That is one beautiful revolver. In all due respect, why was the front sight set so far back? Cutting off some of that ramp would have moved the sight closer to the muzzle and lengthened sight radius.

You know, I always sort of avoid the term "collection" in referring to my guns. To me "collection" infers some order, which does not in any way apply to my guns. Instead, I prefer the term "accumulation" which more nearly correctly describes my gun quest.
But since you referred to these as a "set", maybe this is an accumulation within an accumulation?

When I read the title, I thought this might be some proposed new gun legislation!

I have a penchant for the Single Action revolver, as ya'll might have guessed. But further, I like the brass mounted guns, too. Here is my current line-up: L to R: Ruger three screw Super Blackhawk, Colt Single Action Army .357 Magnum, Uberti Stallion .22 r.f., and Hy Hunter .357 Mafnum. Bob Wright

Sent the gun to Dave Clements who did most of the work, think he sent it to Doug Turnbull for case hardening.

I don't think wood glue would work on these grips. They are laminated and impregnated with some type of polymer, so wood glue would not likely penetrate. More like an epoxy glue.
But CaryC gets my vote for new grips!

That looks fine to me. The only exception I see is the fit of the grip frame at the bottom of the cylinder frame. Are these screws snugged down?

O.K. I'll admit to being facetious as comparing Ruger to Colt or USFA. But then, neither of them came up with anything like this: Bob Wright

Lee,
Tell me more about this Calihan, especiall the rear sight. The early Buckhorns has windage adjustments via opposing screws. Are these click adjustble as on the Blackhawks?
And, caliber offerings?

Well, wouldn't that be irony of ironies - Colt ceasing production of the SAA when its number one quality competitor has just gotten out of the game? Ruger is behind on orders, but so far as I know, they're still very much in the game! Bob Wright

This was my first custom revolver, though not a single action: This is a Colt New Service .45 Colt, ex-.455 Eley, ex-Canadian Mounted Police Revolver. I bought the gun in 1954 by mail order. This was rebuilt by 1960 to .44 Special, with a S&W rear sight and a huge Micro front ramp and blade. The grips are my home made attempt. Bob Wright

Well, having just made a set of grips for mu Hy Hunter, here was my start: My blank was cut from 3/4" stock, called for a lot of sanding, but about 4"x6" or so. This allowed me to sort of place the outline for best use of grain. Bob Wright
