Was looking at 696s when I ran across a new run of 629 3" on GB one Sunday morning. Played around pushing up an $875 opening bid closing in 6 hours and wo I nd up owning it for $890 and the trip.
It has turned out to be a nice piece but took a few front sights to get it dialed in with 200gr 44 Spl. It needs bigger grips for full house 240s. Been looking for some old pachmyer compacts for it.

Worked in Ketchikan from mid Jan through May and again on Metlakatla for about 5 months summer through the fall and Sitka for a year. The lower pan handle is in a rain forest (160-180" annually).
As the others have said. Spend the money on good rain gear and clothing. The surplus mil wool clothing is getting sparse but works well. Xtra Tuff boots are regular footage there but has had a great migration since manufacturing moved to China. Boot drier might be good to pack along along with glove drier. Your outfitter might provide. Nothing worse than than being wet and cold. Beg, borrow or steal some good binos.

I've started playing with the CBC 410 2.5 shells and some 9.3x74R for 3" 410.
Ballistic Products Spec brass case reloading manual is for 12, 20 and 16ga only with black powder. No smokeless loads.
The small bore manual covers 24,28,32 or 36 and 410. They are all for plastic hulls, but they do have data in the small bore manual for TSS high density shot.
There is an article on loading brass 12s with red dot that I have found and then Ed Harris experiment with 2400 in the 410 brass. Right now I'm sperimenting with H110, Lil-Gun and MP300 in 3/8th, 1/2 and 11/16 respectively with Large Pistol Primers. Once I get the chrony numbers I'm looking for I'll send out some for testing to see where I'm at.
Note that I'm using 43 cal overpower Nitro cards and 45 cal overshot cards due to the larger internal capacity.

You probably need to strip the grips completely so the solution can work the whole surface. While you are at it, if the grips need minor fitting take care of that first.
The spray lacquer will come out fast. Just use short bursts from the can at a distance to avoid a heavy build up, sag or ran which you have to wait until it dries hard enough to sand. Lacquer is more forgiving dry time wise than urethane sealers.
You might want to try the blackening agent on a scrap first.

My 100 hammer was so sharp I ended up putting a 45°bevel on the sides and rear edge for that reason.

That is an awesome idea for the 45-70 FTX brass. I'd make a mandrel for a 1/2" drill, spin the brass on the mandrel and kiss the edge of the rim with a file and call it good.

Outside the box. Blow compressed air in on side of the pin hole while plugging the far side with the pin. I'd probably add some Ed's Red or Kroil to it also. If dried up grease in the hole it'll loosen it up. Carb cleaner though the cross pin hole might work too. No magnet.

Yea, I picked up a Winouko TD Trapper in 45 Colt too. Deleted the the inertia hammerleg on the hammer strut and was able to cut 2 or 3 coils of the mainspring. Nice rifle and a comfort in Yogi's neighborhood with Buffalo Bore 325 of a simular homebrew.

As stated numerous times, a 454 is pretty versital. A 45 Colt in s M83 is real close, potatoe potateo almost.
Personally, got a 4.75" M83 in 454 and 45 ACP. I'm content with this used purchase and don't feel the need for a Colt cylinder. Lately the ACP has been getting regular workouts with an MP Molds 200 HP weekly.
If that ain't enough, a 7.5" M83 in 475 will chip in.
The 4.75" is very portable.
