Plain all day long, S&W 442 with a Bianchi clip grip. Best combination I've found for me personally.

I have no idea, I won't own a gun I don't use. I've also found that I'm a touch nervous around very expensive guns. I've had several Freedom Arms guns and that's way less than a full blown custom but I get the shakes going near one with a screwdriver.

So after discussing the issue with Fermin I was all set to get a new front sight that would hopefully be adjustable for the whole range of bullets. I still may do this but a little light bulb went off and I recalled that I've never shot this gun with standard roundball! I'm relegated to the indoor range at the moment because of weather here in Nebraska so black powder play is out. I ran some roundball through a sizer die and loaded it into 45acp cases with a pinch of Bullseye just to test the theory and wouldn't you know it, dead center group. So once again Ruger got it right and it works as designed. I'm gonna play around with the loading some and enjoy the self contained roundball for a bit.

I knew that Sir. I always remember that when I have a gun issue that defies logic.

Talked with Fermin and I think we've got it worked out.

Who was it that said "Every gun is a law unto itself"?

Gun in question is a Stainless Ruger Old Army with adjustable sights. Front sight is a pinned blade like all the stainless Blackhawks and Rear is the fully adjustable factory Ruger unit that is very easy to replace the blade on.

Sounds like a good 150 yard gun as is! I'm sure lot's of folks can do that but I'm not one of them. Besides, I doubt the range would like me to tear out the back wall to go beyond 50yds.

Yes Dick, it's the standard Ruger Adjustable. Do they make different height blades?

Hi all- Having a problem with sight regulation on my Ruger Old Army when using my conversion cylinder. I assume everyone who plays with these has the same problem since you end up with a bullet weight range from 140gr for round ball through 250+ for Colt. My particular one is set up for .45acp and I was running the same 200gr loads I use in my S&W4596 and getting a group six inches high at ten yards with the sight tightened all the way down. I figured a lighter bullet would bring the group down so I went on a hunt and found some commercial cast at 160gr which did bring it down to about 3 inches high at the same ten yards.
I can handle that by obviously aiming lower but I sure wish I could use my regular ammo and be able to adjust for it. If I throw on a taller front sight it'll obviously allow for heavier bullets but then what when I want to shoot round ball? Two front sights fitted to the gun and then swap 'em out for what I'm shooting for the day? Any other options? Thanks folks.
