For years I have looked for a nice 4 inch Model 24 to no avail. Today I was in my local toystore and found a decent model 28 for fair money. I bought it, brought it home and promptly contacted Jim Stroh about the conversion. So Tuesday, the gun will be shipped to him for the work to include sight modifications and his deluxe bluing. In the 5-6 months that it will be gone I will procure a nice set of grips that will do the gun justice.

That'll be sweet. I recently sold a 5 screw 28 to 44 spl conversion, and another 5 screw 28 now wears a 4" 44 mag barrel and cyl and shoots lights out.

I suggest you contact "kurak" over on the S&W Forum for grips. He did these French walnut grips on my 38 WCF M28 conversion.

+1 on grips made by "Kurac." I've had about a dozen pairs of his grips, both magna and target style, and they've all been excellent. His turn around time is pretty good, and he answers questions quickly. Here's a pic of a pair of his target grips on my pre-29 S&W 44 Magnum: Here's another pair he made for me out of Osage Orange. Very neat wood that goes well with either blue or stainless:

The gun departed via FEDEX today. Now I have 5-6 months to locate the grips. I am looking at Kurac or Keith Brown to make my grips. They will look so much better than the Pachy's on the gun now.

Was the #28 the highway patrolman? Yes it is, and they are very nice guns.

Not yet. I hope to be hearing from Mr. Stroh soon. I have a set of grips on order from Keith Brown to complete the package.

I finally got the grips from Keith Brown. Not the greatest pic, sure doesn't do the gun justice.
