Well Better later than never as they say, As some of you know Wes from 7x Leather (Freedom475) came out to NC for the hog hunt, well beside sharing a ton of laughs, Wes put together some leather for my little carbine, and the work is outstanding, If your looking for some new leather be it a new holster, belt, or sling ,I highly recommend his work! That is nice. I've always heard there was good hunting there. I wish I could have made that hunt with you guy's. I've been to NC a bunch of times in my long haul trucking days. I love NC, they have a few of my favorite things; Great people, Great scenery, Great BBQ and Racing

What holds the action into the stock on that 44 auto carbine? Noticed the lack of a barrel band.

This particular carbine is the "Finger groove sporter" the stock screws into the gas block, basically free floating the barrel. I don't know a ton about the rifle, but I believe the gas system on these models and the mannlicher models are longer. Maybe other members can chime in with some history on this rifle.

A digressive note: William Ruger, Sr., was fond of his little .44 mag carbine, a fast hard hitting jump gun especially suited to hind leg hunting in the woods. Ruger could not get production costs down to the retail figure he wanted. Some examples are accurate at 100 yards, while others are less so. Twist is 1:38"----slow----but accuracy disparities may be due more to bedding. Glass bedding has tuned many a wandering gas gun into a shooter.
The later Garand/Mini 14 system .44 mag carbine is simpler; it too found the market soft. David Bradshaw

Thank you David, I appreciate the history, I am too a big fan, As for accuracy I found a diamond in the ruff with this one, it has shot 3 shot groups you could cover with a nickel at 100.
I read recently that these guns were testing with 100% proof loads 80,000 psi, 25 or 50 shots in con-session, but grease was used on the action for these loads.
