We just finished this .327 Martin Meteor and since we have a lot of 32 fans here I thought I'd post a picture: The base gun was a NM 357. We used 416 stainless for the cylinder and Pac Nor barrel blank cut to 8.0". We also added a Super hammer and the sight is out of aluminum. The grips may get upgraded too after test firing. Here's a shot of us trimming the brass. One side note - originally we coined it the "32 Martin Meteor" but Cartridges of the World used "327". We like how that sounds so 327 it is. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Beautiful revolver, Lee.... is cylinder length the main reason for the Blackhawk frame?
Discussed heat treatment, recently, with Bill Ruger, Jr., and Eric Unger, retired ceramics engineer from the foundry. All Ruger frames are heat treated. Once upon a time the Single-Six received exactly same treatment as Blackhawk/SBH. Also one upon a time cylinder frames were heat treated after machining.
Later changed to heat treat first, machine later. Worked out better on all counts, including cutters removing steel in clips, as opposed to strings from non-heat treated steel.
Subsequently, the Single-Six received a different heat treatment, albeit strong. Frame steel is same 4140.
The 17-4 frames and cylinders sent to Freedom Arms are heat treated at FA.

Thanks David. Yes, we had to use the entire frame window due to the 1.50" case length. Here are the specs along with a photo of an un-fireformed hull (32-20 left, 327 Meteor right): -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

For some reason that case trimmer doesn't look like mine....
Those Martins don't do anything except in a very serious manner.
Great story and cartridge. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Lee, what do your 100 yard groups look like? I wonder how heavy of a bullet that little sixgun will stabilize??

Nice Lee!
It's a good thing I don't have as nice a shop and I'm not as talented as you are. I'd never get anything done I'm supposed to.

Haven't shot 100 yard groups yet Fermin but it'll stabilize anything in the 85 - 120 gr range (and maybe more). -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"
