For those of you who opted for round-butt grip frames-how do you like them and why? I'm thinking especially about the short barrel FA's that some of you have acquired.
How are they to shoot versus the "standard" grip frame?
Is there a maximum barrel length that you would use with a round butt?

Oh, grip frames...
Yeah, they're cool.

I prefer 'em squared off, personally.

Who doesnt like a nice round butt?! I like them on S&W's as they are smaller and a little less obvious when packing. I think 4 inches is about the max they look good with though. Never had a round butt SA or Birds Head as usually called.

DX Classic -- it's a really nice shooter! The bottom one is a Model 29 Lew Horton.

I like the DX guns. Traded for one not too long ago. Took a long time to find the exact model etc that I was looking for. they aren't under every tree I had a Magna Classic that looked a lot like yours. As you said, these are my favorite when it comes to round butts. however, the FA is growing on me. I shot the one that I think is in Axe's pictures up top this week and it was really nice. What surprised me more on that one than anything was how much I REALLY liked the short 4" barrel and how it balanced on that FA 83!

I have a 4 1/4" M97 44 special with the rounded butt and another with a 6.5" barrel and a standard butt. When carrying high on my belt, I have come to appreciate the comfort of not poking myself in the ribs with the round butt. I believe I like the standard configuration better from a shooting standpoint. I'm happy with the way these two FA's are set up.

This little 3 1/2" round butt .45 Colt belly gun is a lot of fun to shoot, and is very comfortable for me. Never shot a longer barreled round butt. All my other single actions have square butts, and my 4"+ round butt S&Ws have square butt grips. Paul
