.45LC ?

I came across a .45 LC with a 4 5/8" barrel. it does not have the surgeon general's warning, is NOT a three screw, but is a flattop. quite beat up but lockwork is great and barrel looks fine. I am assuming it is not a catalog item as a flattop would be a three screw with my limited knowledge. Any thoughts? I guess I am more curious about a .45 being a flattop. This gun looks rode hard and put away wet.

Also, I f you can get the S/N, call Ruger and see what it was born as.

Aggie -
Assuming it is not one of the new flattop conversions with the XR3 gripframe that somebody bored out,
most likely it is just a plain'ol New Model that somebody flattopped.
Not a problem depending on who did the work and how well they installed the rear sight.

I personally did not handle it, a friend did and sent me pics. on my phone which I will try to send to my computer. It is a beater, well worn but mechanically sound. By the pics. it looks to worn to be something that has been done recently. I am thinking it is an older NM, made before the barrel warning, but the flattop part has got me, especially considering it is a .45LC.
I am going to pick it up sometime in the future, there are a few paperwork issues, but when I get it, I will post pics. and serial # to figure out what it started life out as.

Ruger never made any .45 Colts in a flattop version. The original flattops were .357 and .44 Mag. Since this is a New Model, someone has milled the ears off the frame making a home made flattop. Pictures would be nice just cos we like to see 'em.

Ruger produced Flattops all were shipped with "round front" Micro marked rear sights. One '55 vintage and one '05 vintage. Carl
