Markbo: The shooter in question in the Ultimate Sixguns thread -- is a 3-1/2" FA 97 .44 Special with octagon barrel, adjustable sights, and round butt. A dandy gun, all right ... My current version of this gun is a 3-1/2" FA 97 in .45 Colt with an aux. cylinder in 45 ACP, round butt, adjustable sights. Boge has one like it with the fixed sights/dovetail front. They sure do pack easy. They do balance/point a little different though. I have never been as good of a point shooter with it as I am with a 4-1/4" or 5-1/2" gun. Now, Barranti: What do you think of the holster? Ever do a Yaqui slide for a single action? This one worked pretty well, but needed a split loop (IIRC) in order to wear over a belt loop. I sold this pistol some time ago to Rod and foolishly let him have the holster too

I LOVE the way that short-barreled rascal handles, balances and points! It is a bit different, as the balance is a little further back. If you balance the gun with one finger through the trigger guard so the gun hangs down, the barrel rests perfectly horizontal. Charlie Hanna told me it would be a perfect fighting SA.
Beautiful holster too, and a NICE pic!

Every once in a while I am reminded that there are people who have never killed anything ... particularly with a .44 Special.

Hey Santilli, are you trying to be irritating? Or is this your idea of humor? Insulting the 44 special around here is NOT a real good idea......

Not bad. Too bad it's not in a REAL caliber... Flatlander, that is a really sharp looking sixgun. I think that a 4.25" octagon would just about be perfect for me. I would probably have to get the first one in 45 colt though just for sentimental reasons personally

You really need to order the set as consecutive numbers, Axe. Preferably ending in -44 and -45...

Great picture, Mark! Beautiful gun and holster....
I built a 'bikini' shoulder holster for a customer many years ago. He carried his Buntline barreled Uberti in it. He wanted a minimum of leather, only covering the cylinder, and what I came up with was shaped similarly to your Yaqui slide.
I have toyed around with that idea recently, but was concerned about the front sight hanging up on the draw...was that ever an issue for you?

Mike - As I recall, this holster had some forward cant to it, and as long as you tilted the gun forward just a bit (tilt the butt forward) during the draw, it did not hang up. Might be because it was relieved somewhat at the muzzle? In any event, if you want to build one as a prototype, I will be glad to buy it and give you a comprehensive report
