The democrats are much better at selling guns than the republicans ever were.
That doesn't mean one side can't overplay its hand. both sides overplay their cards.
The First Amendment is the lips of the Constitution. The Second Amendment is the teeth of the Constitution.
The Second Amendment must at all hazards protect the First. otherwise, and to maintain the offensive, the Second Amendment must remain aloof from all other debates. David Bradshaw

I am only old enough to have voted for Mr. Reagan for his last term but in my limited time it appears that our current white house occupant has sold more weapons than any person in history.

Shelves around me are empty. No 223/5.556 ammo anywhere. Thanks to Mr. Pres for the words the other night which caused this.
The Second Amendment is not about rabbit hunting. It was about preventing tyranny. Ensuring the legacy of freedom. Preventing Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge, Stalin, Hitler, etc., from killing the government's subjects. How many people in world history have the various leaders/regimes killed? Multiple mulitiples of what individuals have done. Millions.
We have handguns to prevent the guys who misuse high capacity semi-auto rifles from killing lots of people. We have high capacity semi-auto rifles to keep the Government from killing millions of people. The Second Amendment was inspired from the Almighty through the Framers of the Constitution, and the NRA is really the spearhead ini keeping it intact. This is despite its shortcomings, one of which as dmize pointed out when they called recently.

Amen boys. IMHO the framers of the Constitution knew we only stood a chance against the might of Britain because of our basic level of skill with arms. I believe they wanted to us to always have that option against oppression. stevemb
