I picked up a 357 Vaquero recently and was shooting it over the weekend. I noticed that the cylinder would drag and occasionally hang up when I was cocking the hammer back. I looked between the cylinder and the barrel and there is BARELY a gap, and looks like it is touching on the chamber that is sticking most. I think this is my problem. Is this a problem a gunsmith could help me with? Or something I could do myself?
also, i have a 4 5/8" Blackhawk, and my Vaquero is also 4 5/8". my Blackhawk ejector rod comes out far enough to totally expel the spent casing. my Vaquero does not. makes unloading it quite unpleasant. ha!
and finally, i had a stainless 4 5/8" Vaquero 357 for a short time. when loading, when the cyliner clicked, the chamber was lined up with the loading gate, like my old model Blackhawk. this new Vaquero does not, and the chamber lines up just before the click, making it a pain if you go too far. is there somethign i can do to make the chamber line up with the loading gate AFTER the click? or am i going to have to use a free spin pawl?
Thanks Joe

Does it stick when it is unloaded? On tight revolvers, differences in case head thickness between brands of brass can cause headaches.

From the same post on Rugerforum, I'd swap the base pin with your 44 and see if the problem goes away. May be slightly bent and that would cause the cylinder to rub the barrel.
