Have an older one that needs a new Barrel, this one has been shot so much there is no rifling for an inch in front of the forcing cone. Looking for the 4.5/8 but could cut an fit longer.

Welcome to the forum!
When you say "there is no rifling for an inch in front of the forcing cone" I'm confused. I've never seen or heard of rifling being worn away, even on VERY old guns that have been shot a lot! I'm guessing that either there is severe lead build up which has filled the grooves to a large degree or the first inch may have had some procedure like Taylor throating performed on it. Can you comment on either one of these? Have you used a wire brush in it or a Lewis lead removal tool? Can you give us any pictures?
Thanks, Max.

I have shot this Gun for many years, the leade is worn out from (probably dirty lead bullets0 being used. Indeed the rifling is gone at the leade, and that is why I am looking for a replacement. thanks for the reply

I agree with maxcactus that rifling erosion as severe as you describe is an unusual thing. That said, unless you're looking for something custom, or holding out for a take-off barrel you'd install yourself, Ruger would be your best source for a replacement (603-865-2442).

Have you any idea how many rounds that has taken to do that?
And, how long did it take to shoot that many rounds?

Send me an e-mail about the barrel, I have two, 4440sa@gmail.com I'd forgotton about them, they were take offs from custom work, one is in need of blueing the other is in pretty good shape if I remember correctly, haven't seen them in years, just sittin in my safe. Both 357's from 3-screws. If it's a New Model, I doubt if they will fit, don't know the threads per inch on them.
