Its amazing. In the days of the original 44 associates, those good men had to depend on the written word to communicate, consult, and solve problems. Nowadays, we have almost instant communication. Text messages, email, etc all serve to keep us almost in direct touch. This worked to my advantage the other day as I was alerted by a good friend of a Smith and Wesson 625 Mountain Gun in 45 acp for sale on Gunbroker. I immeidiately set my high bid at 850. I figured that would carry it, and besides, it was all I had. Litttle did I know I would go for far more and the bidding by some very stubborn competitors got nice and hot. I had already decided to slink off in defeat and reestablish my vultures perch to await a more easy victim when my "friends" came to my rescue. To a man my phone was kept buzzing with encouragement to "stay in the fray". At 1050 I was done. Hell, I didnt have the dang cash. As I lamented the fact, my "friends" offered to put up the money.... How can a guy argue with that?? Anyway, as you can see, I got it here, and as you might have guessed, I named this one 1133. After the debacle that is my 625PC, I was hoping and praying this one would live up to what a Smith and Wesson should be. More to follow.

No lock/hard surfaced MIM hammer and trigger...should be a smooth action that gets better with time.

Fermin, I was just making the point to my Bride yesterday about the quality of men with whom we associate. We are blessed, brother.

Taking my set of pin gauges to this sixgun proved it to be the tightest of the Smith's I have measured in 45acp. Throats are .4515" and the barrel showed no restriction and a tight bore. Naturally it proved to be a excellent shooter. The load here was some ancient IPSC 45 loads on the 205 H&G bullet on 5.5 grains of 231. I had some ammo along, loaded in 45 AR cases that I hadnt been able to get to shoot in any 45 acp sixgun I have tried it in. Here is a pic of the lead I scrubbed out of it. It just goes to show, if your alloy isnt correct, or your bullet doesnt fit, it matters not if you have an excellent sixgun you are NOT going to get good results. Of course, I wasnt going to put up with the ramp front and promptly had Ray cut me a custom front for my new Mountain Gun, which as far as I am concerned it deserved considering how well it shot. Here it is still in the white.

Next make yourself one of those moon clip storage units lit Sixshot keeps in his gun bag. 10-16 dowels mounted on a piece of ply wood just drop the moon clips on there for a day's shooting.

Fermin - any chance you could get Ray to market these front sights for those of us also afflicated with those ramp front sights on our Mountain Guns (or other S&Ws for that matter)?
Thanks,
Matt
