Nice! Very plumy! Interesting how the loading gate and only the front half of the grip frame got pummy. I like it.

I kinda like it too. I know very little of what a real aficionado would know about SAAs. Great Westerns plum out commonly, and I know them real well. That contrast leads me to ask though, should a Colt be like that?
I understand “plum” to be possible only on guns featuring investment cast parts. I woulda figured even a gen 3 Colt to be all forged.

Have a 3rd gen new frontier that is a bit plum on the trigger guard. Also have 2 26-1 S&Ws whose barrels are pluming.

Plum is not exclusive to cast parts. I've seen S&W's with plum frames.

The front grip frame screw appears buggered up a bit to me. Don't see that very often on a "new" Colt's.

I have seen this occasionally on some 3rd Gens.
BTW, someone is going to really overpay for that gun. $1700? Comical.
PS - Look at picture #6: the gripframe ears don't even cover the sides of the hammer.

I think he's going to keep it a while at that price. But, I've been surprised before!

Gun has no reserve and a bid at $1,695. It will sell if the buyer is legit.

I'm amazed that anybody would pay $1700 for an older full-blue 3rd generation Colt. Although I could see paying that for this one. I've come close a few times but I don't care for the blackpowder frame. If it was a .38-40 with 2nd generation sights I'd already have one. www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=301998373

As Jeff has told me several times - you can't pay too much, just too SOON.
