Kind of the .480 Ruger of the .510's, with all the same reasons and rationale?
Unlike folks here, Gary sees no reason to go beyond 350 grains at 1350 fps in his .510GNR. I think the line goes something like,
"It's killed elephants. What more do you need?"

Lee, that's exactly the reason Gary gives in THE COMPLETE RELOADING MANUAL for all the GARY REEDER GNR CARTRIDGES.
"At several of the industry shoots and on a few hunts I talked to folks who were shooting the 500 Linebaugh and they mentioned that they wished there were some lighter loads they could shoot and that they could load up some light loads safely. With the large capacity of the 500 Linebaugh case, loading it down was a dangerous propsition. With that in mind I set out to develop what was to be the 510 GNR."
Taken from page 83 in his book.

Downloading the 500 Linebaugh is dangerous? Folks have been shooting W231, Unique, Blue Dot, and HS6 in it for decades. Double charges are problematic but that can happen just as easily in the GNR. Again, no knock of the 510. Interesting round....I'm just curious to its development. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Would love to see some chronograph results from light loads using any powder. Can't help but think that for consistent velocity a fuller case does work better.
Also the light bullets GNR likes would exacerbate the case full issue in the standard case.

Voice in the wilderness here... but what would a 0.511 diameter 350g WFNGC hard cast bullet moving at 1,350 fps not kill... at least on the North American continent (Alaska included)... with proper shot placement within 100 yards? I need some convincing as to why the heavier bullets are necessary for anything from whitetail to polar bear... not being argumentative here, just interested in learning more. The 435g's that Andy loads don't shoot as tight as the 350g longs in my gun... or then again maybe its me... but I don't find the 435g's recoil all that bad (compared to my 475 Linebaugh anyway), so I'm not sure its the shooter. At the end of the day, dead is dead and two holes is two holes... right?

I'm sorry but that dog just don't hunt. I have been to Linbaugh seminars and peopl are shooting 700 FPS loads in the 500 Linebaugh safely. There is no magic are magic potions required to safely down load the 500 Linebaugh
