Folks here like the 500-525 gr bullet in the 500 Linebaugh traveling in the 1000-1100 fps range. Low pressure ,good accuracy and dead right there results. Now the 510 GNR is 1/10" shorter then the Linebaugh . How heavy a bullet would you use? Would the 525 gr take up too much space in the GNR case? I use a 375 gc mountain mold now but the heavier bullet with less pressure sounds interesting.

The 510 could be loaded with the 525 grain bullets and you could use the same data as the 500 Linebaugh IF you loaded it to the same OAL. The only problem would be where to crimp the bullet. However if you seated the bullet to the crimp groove and reduced your powder charge accordingly, you may find that the bullet shank will intersect the case due to it's internal taper and you may end up with some buldged cases. I don't know for sure, never tried it.

I don't reload for the 510GNR, I buy from Andy Rowe at CPE, and I find his most accurate load, in my Reeder 510 is the 350 Long... The 435's just don't seem to group as well in my 5.25" bbl Bisley conversion. Not sure if it's the twist rate not being fast enough to stabilize the heavier bullets or what... but that's been my experience.

Best to call Andy Rowe and ask him what the heaviest bullets he will load for the .510 GNR would be.
It's already pretty ugly the way they stick the bullet out of the case with their normal loads.
You really want to have some fun go over to Reeder's forum, and ask Gary what he thinks of 525's in his .510GNR.

I don't own a 510 GNR but my Linebaughs love 525's at 1,100 fps. 26.0 grains of H110 will get you there but that's max (so work-up to slowly). In the GNR I recommend starting around 20.0 and step in half-grain increments. It's a guess but I bet you'll top out around 22.0 grs. Like Kaytod said though you may run into the web with that long a slug. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Will 28 grains of 4227 fit, and if so, how fast are the 525's going?

He only offers 4 loads, a 315 RNFP "special", a 350 WFNGC "short" and a 350 WFNGC "long", and of course the 435 mentioned above... all tested and approved by Reeder for use in his 5 shot conversions.

The only thing about the Reeder round is it's short, so he could hang his name on it. Seat the bullet out to proper OAL, and it's quite capable of the same loading as the .500 Linebaugh, but it's really ugly.
Andy will probably load anything you want, including .500 Linebaugh, at a reasonable price.
Call him and see what he says.

I verified that the Reeder cylinder OAL does allow for a little more total length of the loaded cartridge than the 435g (pictured) that Andy offers... see pics.

I've posted this before, but here is the .510 GNR on the left, next to a .500 Linebaugh -- loaded to nearly the same length.

Let me start by saying this is no ping on Gary. I'm just curious. So what's the justification for the 510 GNR again? If you load to 500 Linebaugh OAL what's the shorter brass buy you? And please don't say it's better suited for reduced loads.....my 500 Linebaughs love HS6. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"
