Last weekend i stripped the sight screw hole on my BFR. Yesterday I dropped it off at my gunsmith. He was gonna drill it out the next size hole and drill out the sight to match. Today he calls me and says he drilled through the barrel, and was sending it back to Magnum Research for a new barrel. I offered to pay for half, and he wouldnt let me. I thought that was very cool of him.

Well I think plugging "the hole" with a properly threaded screw would have been fine, but hats off to your 'Smith for being a stand up guy.

Yeah i really like Mike. If work picks up and i can afford it, I'm gonna have him do a happy trigger in my guide gun, and duracoat the slide on my Witness.

I soldered over the plug since it was under a sight and I didn't want any gas detaching the sight. Lesson learned. Always always always set the stop.

Stuff like that happens even to the best smiths. Sounds like a stand-up guy to me too.
