Finally got up to the range with enough time to run some rounds over the chrono. I was using an Oehler 35 with a Ruger 7.5" Maximum. All rounds used a CCI 450 primer with the Hornady 180 XTP. Results are the average of 10 shot strings.
20 grains of IMR-4227 First string Avg.- 1372 fps Extreme spread (E)-70 Standard Deviation (S)-21
Second string Avg.- 1396 E-98 S-32
22 grains WW 680 Avg.-1476 E-42 S-11
24.5 grains AA-1680 First string Avg.-1517 E-64 S-20
Second String Avg.-1542 E-65 S-18
Haven't had a chance to work with cast bullets but hope to get some loaded in the not to distant future. Also have some Remington 180 HP's that I would like to try as they have quite a bit of exposed lead in the nose.

Some high extreme spreads there. What kind of primers are you using?

I was using CCI 450 primers. I have 3lbs of 680 left. No doubt I'll find the perfect load using it right before I run out.

You're on the right track with 680/AA1680. All of my Supermags love that powder. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

I'm shooting the same 4227 load (20 grs) in my 10 1/2" Maxie with a 180 gr WFN cast, it knocks down the steel plates so hard at 50 yds that sometimes they stand back up, did it 3-4 times today. Agree, 680-1680 is top drawer in the Maxie, great deer & antelope caliber. How did your loads shoot?
