Not exactly how I would have done it, but I do like seeing Rugers customized.....excellent base guns.............to each his own.

I can't say how effective they are or how relevant it is but some guys screw them on Dan Wessons also. I guess because it's easy. the brake just replaces the barrel nut. Effective or tactical Teddy option. Who knows.

Not a bad looking gun. I'd think that at 45C pressures that the biggest thing that you'll get out of that comp would be gas in your face. I'd have spent my money and time on a 44 cylinder to rechamber a tight 45 colt. Then add steel EJRH and a Bowen rear sight.

Groo here A break that is made correctly will work on pressures as low as 22lr. The question is how much kick can you handle? If a 45lc is ok no break is needed, if heavy then a break is worth the cost. I have a few guns with breaks and can tell the difference. The thing is , if the gun is kicking you with a mid range load DO NOT load lighter , rather increase the load [safely] as a true break likes to be pushed. I know of one case [ a big time lady hunter] that a 454 was set up with an SSK break,, she said that there was no change ,but she started with top end 45lc loads, the break was set for 454. JD said to shoot some WARM 454 loads and on the next outing she remarked that the kick was like a 357!!!. If you need a break or porting to shoot a heavy kicker ,then use one, after all it's your hand..

I'll post a range report in a couple of weeks after she hits the porch... a little unorthodox for sure, but it might be just the ticket to enable my 16 yr old daughter to be able to shoot some really hot 45 colt loads at some hogs this fall... assuming the brake works. Stay tuned...
