I own this one (I remember seeing it in one of those lists of Gunsmith ads they used to run in Handgunner back in 97 or so, so when I got a chance to grab it a year or two ago, I did)... link in case picture fails
Recoil is not bad when shooting .50 special. It does have a spare .500 linebaugh cylinder. I have never put that in. Most rounds I have fired in one session was probably 140 or so. It was intermixed in about a 1000 round session with nothing else bigger than a .45 acp.

Yes those are Fishpaw grips. I have 3 pair and love them all. I got lucky a few years back on the other two. Rock Island listed "Two Ruger Revolvers" as a lot and I won it for $700 or so. I noticed the grips looked extra nice, one revolver had been armaloyed or similar (satin finish), and both looked to have had a decent amount of work on. Both had been to Bowen and then to fishpaw for grips. The super blackhawk .44 (which had been previously magna-ported [which I hate in general]) and a triger job and some other light work. The .45 colt that was armaloyed had substantial work done to it. One of my better auction "wins."

It was intermixed in about a 1000 round session with nothing else bigger than a .45 acp. Have always liked that one when saw the pics online. I had a 4 3/4 barrel .500 Linebaugh like it fluted chamferred cylinder with gorgeous multi-color smooth Sambar from Roy. The grips were too thin for me, and I almost had Roy re-grip it, but a friend fell in love with it also, and the grips fit him perfect. I decided to leave it in tact and let it go. Even with the thinner grips it wasn't too bad with a 440 LFNGC and 25 of 2400, but once you went past there it got wild and hard to hang onto. It was great with 16 of HS6. Yours is one of them that has gotten me thinking about trying one in the Special now. I do think that extra 3/4 of an inch of L frame style barrel has to help a tad on recoil on my old Ella gun that went south to Tejas, but that 4" in a special would be an awful handy rig.
