Tell us about your favorite front sight for a SA revolver, why it's your favorite, and post pics of it if you can. Which do you prefer for hunting, target, and SD and why?

I know it ruins the traditional look of a single action, but I have grown to love a fiber optic front sight. My sixguns are all hunting guns and I have not found anything that works as good at putting bullets on target under hunting conditions. No doubt a blackened patridge is more accurate but I have been doing a lot of shooting lately with a Super Blackhawk and a Single Six wearing Hi-Viz front sights and not only are they fast, they can be accurate. The green insert is bright in all lighting conditions and there is enough square blade around it for precision. I think they are a big improvement over the factory ramp.

Boxhead, does the 20 degree angle on the post prevent glare/light reflection? I find a more shallow angle, like a Ruger factory ramp front sight catches a lot of glare and sometime the black post seems like it almost disappears in bright light.

Boxhead
May I ask who made the front sight for the Ruger, it looks similar to those of David Clements, but I can not tell.

I actually have two. The first is our home-built aluminum post with the back edge matted: 2Dog's BFR sight has also really grown on me: They screw right on and the only mods I do are some polishing and slight rounding of the upper front edge. Very crisp sight pattern too. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Yes it does which is why I like it but it is a compromise to one not cut back at all or, better yet, cut forward with regard to glare. These work fine for me and do not eat leather. The front sight on the Bisley was made by Alan Harton.
