One picture says a thousand words! FWIW we also noted that the length numbers on the Huntington gun were tainted a bit with the enclosed case heads..

Now without being cryptic, Axe, have you or have you not shot your .500 Maximums yet? Inquiring minds want to know! Also, what loads, how was the accuracy, and what were your impressions of them? Thank you!

Does a full case of AA1680 sound right? Shoot like lazer beams too! ;D Recoil of the Huntington 500 Max is noticeably more that the Reeder 500 Max...

One picture says a thousand words! Ya, but one picture posted a thousand times can be reduced to one word . All in good fun of course. That's a nice set you have there. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Dang! Sure do hate that I've got 375 and 414 Ruger Maximums in the works. I'll have to be careful to not post any pictures of them... Yeah RIGHT! ;D You know I be able to do that. What I need is a better camera! Speaking of these two new ones, I have questions.... Let me start a new thread..

How does any of that answer my question of how many grains of AA1680 and what bullet weight? Straight answers to straight questions can be a lot of fun Axe. May want to give it a try -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Just a cylinder or two to get the feel of the recoil... Bullets were CP 440 GCs that were sitting on the shelf. Used the starting load of AA1680. Shot at hanging 12x16x1 steel plates about 50 yards out. Seemed to shoot where they were pointed.

Axe....I am really curious though on the manual you used and the actual starting load. I ask because I've found the Accurate Arms data for 435 gr WFNs to be a little "off" with 1680. How many grains specifically did you try and did it seem hot? -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

I wish you guys could hold this Reeder 500 Max. My plan is to get the three local forum members who are regulars here to the Range up in Fayetteville and have them hold and shoot it. Then when I get up on my soap box I will have company! I'm down for that. Weekends are best, but if you wanna go during the week I'll need a heads up at least a week in advance so I can schedule a day off. I'm gonna need to wear my big boy pants if you are gonna cart a bunch of guns with the word "Max" in the name up there...

Personally don't shoot big stuff off the bench. I'm 60 years old and stood on the firing line 20 years with some of the bullseye greats who are now running artifical joints in their elbows and whining about their shoulders. Firm believer in the idea that the guns and me need to be allowed to move in recoil.. I hang steel in the woods on a private range. We found that the 3/8-1/2 inch steel was not up to big 44s and up. Over time mild steel plates would develop a concave shape. Forum member TC got us some 1 inch mild steel that holds up to the big stuff well. Have to watch out for the fruitcakes with centerfire rifles but it shrugs off 475s and 50s like water off a ducks back. Anyone recognize a leaf spring from and International Scout? It is buried in the hillside in a 5 gallon bucket full of cement.
