I have located a Colt New Frontier with a 7.5 inch barrel and in 44 Special. They say it is a third model. The asking price is 950. My question, are the third model or generation guns the ones with problems? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I wouldn't say the 3rd-Gen sixguns have problems, but they are generally not as nicely done as 2nd-Gen examples. I have owned several, with no problems at all - in fact, one ivory-stocked 3rd-Gen 44 Special (which now resides with Terry Murbach) was/is an exceptional sixgun. Murbach, who owns a boatload of 2nd- and 3rd-Gen NFs, agrees with this - he had it at the Shootist Holiday, and was raving obout it.
$950 is a good price.

Thanks Boge. The gun looks in nice shape. If it has a flaw, I'm sure for that price, it can be massaged into shape.

Welp, I won the auction. Just gotta send the funds and an FFL and I'll have my first Colt Single Action. I got another Colt New Frontier in 44 Special on order at my local gunshop. This one will have the 5.5 inch barrel.

Mine has big cylinder mouths (.431 - .432 cast bullets only) and my USFAs are better fitted, but it shoots! Fat grips too, one of these days I'm going to get some customs...

My USFA Flattope target is very accurate and is a great piece. I replaced to plastic grips with a set of walnuts ffrom Scott Kolar. It is a stunning gun.
Nice trio of guns you have there.
