Question about the 45 Colt TLAs in general.. Are the chambers SAAMI spec or are they tight?

Every one I have measured has been tight. Like, Linebaugh tight. If you want more specifics, I would have to dig out my notes on the ones I've measured. Anyway, it is one of the benefits of a TLA .45 Colt.

Dang! And those BP SAAMI Spec chambers were going to be my excuse! What now? Guess the truth will have to do.. Way to many obligations. Way to little money. Got 6 in work and promised to buy a couple more...

I'll consider a payment plan.

You sure are making it difficult... Those 45 Colt TLA #5s don't pop up on the market very often. I'm sitting here mapping out a plan in my head... Find myself yearning for the old days when complete islands could be bought with a few beads and trinkets... See you over on the Ruger Forum

Suggest you get on this one Stan. They are very rare in 45 LC whatever the variation. The one I had was blisteringly accurate.

Yo Fermin! We are flailing our feeble little arms as hard as we can to raise some cash to cover a bunch of stuff... Then there is the remote possibility that we just thought we were flailing as hard as we could..

OK...............I give up. I've seen the "TLA" reference multiple times. Will someone help out a lowly Noob and tell me what it stands for please???

Texas Longhorn Arms was a gun company started by Bill Grover in Texas a number of years ago. He was known for his Improved #5 revolvers which he felt were improved versions of Elmer Keith's famed #5 revolver. His guns featured the loading gate on the left side rather than on the right side. Along with the Improved #5 model he also made the border Special, The South Texas Army and the West Texas Flat Top Target. These were in addition to several special builds of Express models and even one mirror image right side loading gate gun.
If you look in the Gallery you will see several pictures of #5 guns and one member posted a picture of a WTFTT hanging on a set of elk antlers in the single actin section titled FREE karma contest. Hopefully that will let you get started in learning about the TLA guns and their history.
