The power company cut down a black walnut tree 5 years ago. I took a couple of crotch sections and slabed them, and put the slabs in my attic........ The only thing worse than the fit, is my photography skills ;D Never again will I question the price of custom grips.

Its not easy is it? I have made grips for my Colts over the years and it can be challenging, patience is a must.

That's beautiful wood and those grips look good to me. If you got any of that black walnut left I'd be interested in buying a couple slabs from you, if you're interested.

quite nice...pattern reminds me of batchelor button flowers on a stem...but then I see Mona Lisa's face in cornflakes.... all kidding aside they look great. Nice color on the frame too.

Thanks Whit, I must have ruined a dozen or so blanks just to get those. It's a good thing I know how to build houses, because if I were in the grip making biz I'd be dirt poor. A coping saw, back saw, wood file and lots and lots and lots of sandpaper.
My hats off to all grip/stock makers, you guys make it look easy

The grips really compliment the gun. Good work.

Ya know , the fit does not look that bad that a little color matched bedding compound might just fix them right up. I'd shoot em with pride. The second set is easier and about the hundreth you get good at it.

The grips look great but I'm wondering about something. Did you blindside drill that left panel? The reason I'm wondering is that most people that want a blindside want it on the right side.
That's the holster side view for most people.

Cary, yes I did. Probably 15-20 years ago I bought a busted up set of grips at a Cal Expo gunshow for a couple dollars. I scavenged screw and escutcheon to make those.
Clearly I am not the best grip maker. Cary, I admire your craftsmenship very much.
Nobody believes me when I tell them.......................There actually was a time when California gunshows were good.
PS paulg, I'm right handed
