We all (well, most of Us) whine about how our Ruger Single Sixes shoot.. I'm not talking about how well the shooter can shoot but just how well will the gun shoot.. I've made the decision to have Gary Reeder build me a pair of custom Single Sixes with oversize 8 shot cylinders and proper bore diameter barrels. Cheap? Each one will come in somewhere around a comparable new FA 97. Why not a FA 97? Three reasons. 1) Blue steel 2) I have a 22LR FA 97 3) Everyone has a FA 97 We will do one in 22LR and a matching one in 22 Mag. I have a pair of blue steel Bisleys we will build on. I'm thinking 8 inch barrels, black micarta grips, and the FA style front sight base. We will D&T both for the Leupold base for that day when these 60 year old eyes go completely south.. Looking forward to putting them on sand bags and seeing what they will do.. www.reedercustomguns.com/revolvers/double_deuce.htm

Individual accuracy expectations vary... I own three FA 22LR Revolvers. My Hammerli 208S would shoot 10 shot groups inside the X ring at 50 yards. A 1.25 inch 25 yard 22LR revolver will not make it to my favorites list.

I just bought some 8-shot .22lr and 8 shot.22 mag Single Six cylinders from Numerich. They're made by a fellow named Al Story in Silver City, NM. Al builds one heck of a rifle and I expect the cylinders to be high quality. He's also a great fellow: brcrifles.com/manufacture.htmThey're supposed to drop in NM guns. I'll see soon enough. Not a full custom but...

Mr. Harton wasn't accepting new work from the last email I saw a month ago...We'll see Axes guns within 3 or 4 months. Just facts.

The Reeder gun looks interresting. Is that a modified SuperBlackhawk gripframe? Will a SuperBlackhawk grip frame fit on a Single Six? My first single action was a SuperBlackhawk and after countless rounds the grip works for my hands. I just recently bought a Single Six and the shorter grip leaves my bottom finger wandering and I know this affects my consistency. I want the 22 to be an interchangable companion to the 44; small game, big game, plinking and practice with the same sight picture. Perhaps square bottom grips on the Single Six would help.

Yes the SBH grip frame will fit the Single six. Generally OM to OM and NM to NM unless you have some special parts that allow you to use a NM grip frame on an OM..

Packed up a pair of Bisley Single Sixes today. They will be headed to Flagstaff before the week is out. Decided on 6.5 inch barrels. The 8 inch seems more appropriate for a larger frame gun..

Axe do you put the bisley's on those or do you find them that way? I like the looks of all the custom single sixes in all platforms that have been shown here.
