I was able to trade today for a like new in box 10.5" SS Ruger SBH. I am pleasantly suprised how it handles vs how I thought it would handle. I haven't shot it yet but its chambers and bore seem to have a very bright "mirror like" appearance. Seems smoother than other SA's I've seen recently. Not to put the cart before the horse but, I may end up hunting with this revolver if it shoots well.

Congrats, nice revolver. I remember when I bought mine new when they first came out...for some reason, mine did NOT come with the bull barrel and undercut front sight...it has the regular 7.5" front site....weird...

I was able to shoot the hogleg today. I am to have surgery on my left shoulder in a week or two so I was wondering how much recoil mitigation the long spout would render. Prior to the shot the majority of the weight was pleasantly resting against the heel of my right palm. Suring the shot it rolled nicely upward at about a 30 degrees. Felt recoil is very mild even with stout loadings. I should still be able to shoot large revolvers (at least this one and my 45 colts) during my convalescence. The next couple months will be better tolerated now I think!

Those long barrels are really nice....best to you on the surgery. Been there, done that.

The 10.5" guns I've owned we're all amazingly accurate guns and mild in recoil with full house loads. You will love it.

I bought one of these w/bull barrel and undercut front sight for shooting IHMSA matches, many years ago. All cylinder throats were .4305 except for one which was .4298. It was easily lapped out the .4305. It is exceptionally accurate if the operator is halfvast coherent.

I sure like mine, got it from the Ferminator, once I worked all the misses out of it she worked fine! ;D Still can't decide if I like the red dot or not, one day I do, next day I don't.

I love mine. I would like to find a Ruger 357 maximum 10 1/2 to keep it company some year. LOL

I've had both, the current issue "bull barrel and the earlier 10-1/2" tapered barrel .44. I sold the "bull barred" example. Why? Heavy. "too easy" to shoot but a pain to carry. My tapered barrel example along with its' "home boy" front sight is a "tack driver" with commercial cast, gas checked 300 grain bullets. Carl

I think the factory taper looks better/more classic and more in line with the overall lines of the gun than bull in this barrel length. Would think a bull barrel in 10.5" length would make it hard to point off hand and make it very front heavy... but I guess you don't shoot a gun with a long barrel like this off hand that often? I love this gun, it's really purdy! Never had a 10.5", have a couple 7.5" and love them... may have to step up in the near future... oh boy, here we go, another project gun...

Here's one that I borrowed for a hunt once..... Even with factory loads it was a tack driver. Nice piece though a bit cumbersome.
