As a mini owner and shooter I suggest CCI stingers: The little slugs obturate better and group pretty we in all the minis I've tried them in. My birdshot attempts have been pretty sad... it does ok out of a rifle, I suppose, but the minis would nearly need to be touching the scaly critter. Love those little guns!

I have had one of the .22lr versions for years and its logged a lot of miles. I had a Magnum version for a time, but the size made it no easier to conceal than my KelTec P32 so I sent it down the road. The mini is what I grab when I can't carry a gun.

I have one of the Black Widows, 4 inch barrel with dual cylinders. Pretty accurate little piece and once you dial it in I could guarantee a hit on a 16 inch circle at 100 yards. Trigger pull is heavy, but you don't even realize you have one in your pocket.

I have the dual cylinder model. Nice "drop in your pocket" piece.

I had one for a while, but ended up selling it. It was too cumbersome as a "fun" shooter and keeping as the "gun when you can't have a gun" was a legal mess waiting to happen. A good knife is just as effective and more useful. I am seriously interested in the new swing out cylinder version. While it'll be no more useful as a defensive gun, it may be a fun toy for plinking while knocking about in the woods. The gun and a box or two of Colibri will make any found target a nice diversion. As for snake guns, I wonder if an I-frame in 38S&W loaded with DIY snake shot using Speer's shot capsules in 38S&W brass would be workable. A snubnose I-Frame should be significantly smaller than the J-frame 38. I know from experience a 38special shotshell will stop a largish rattler. Of course, if you want a snake gun, there's always the Judge.

I just sold my 22lr/mag, not because I didn't like it..had to raise funds for the Flat top I just acquired Friday. I kept it loaded with Hornady ballistic tips. I tried some shot in it and at 6 feet it made about a 6" circle, about ideal for snakes if you ask me. The great thing was it was perfect for pocket carry in a homemade holster, always there. As far as not being as effective as a knife, I'd have to differ with that, strongly. Most people who use a knife end up getting injured, especially if they haven't been trained in knife fighting. I carry a Spyderco and it would be the ditch after the last ditch before I'd pick it over even the 22 lr. The 22 mag hollowpoints penetrated 5 milkjugs full of water, my .45 only went 4. Great if you want penetration. I chose the Hornady's because they actually expand. I miss it already.

Firing these guns accurately takes some practice. I don't know about the. 22 LR models but the magnums are very ammunition sensitive. Tolerances are very close and my gun will lock up with certain brands. Apparently the casing backs up on firing and locks up the cylinder. I spoke with the factory and their attitude was, "Yeah, that can happen. Try using CCI ". ? Well, it does work OK with CCI but I would advise anyone not to depend on these guns for self-protection without first practicing with it and above all make sure the ammo you have chosen won't turn the gun into a single shot weapon.

I meant to mention to not carry the gun with the same ammo for extended periods. I had some Hornady's to need a second strike to ignite after carrying it about 4 months without rotating my stock, so to speak. After I reloaded it fired every round without a problem. Maybe I have sweaty pockets
