You picked a good one to start with. I predict you'll be very pleasantly surprised with the .45 ACP cylinder.

Go Mikie, Go Mikie, EEEEEHHHHHAAAAA Good choice. My son just bought me one This is my new favorite gun, Im gonna give it a good workout tomorrow, I have a few hundred rounds of 45acp and 45 colt . Looking to have a set of stag grips made by Mr Peterson as soon as I figure out how much bark I want to leave on them. Been going back and forth with wanting heavy bark or totally smooth or somewhere in between .

I bought one in stainless just before Christmas. I haven't had time to really get acquainted with it. I bought a Birdshead Vaquero and traded into a Kimber Pro Carry right after I got the Flattop, and got sidetracked with them. I did fire enough of my 250 grain swc/9 gr. Unique loads in it to discover that it has to have a stronger spring to keep the base pin from backing out. I ordered three of Wolff's "Extra Power" springs and replaced the ones in the Flattop, the Birdshead Vaquero, and a Sheriff's Model Vaquero. My older Vaquero, purchased in the 90s, has already been back to Ruger to solve that problem.

Im already thinking about what SA I should get next . Think hard about a Birdshead Vaquero in .45ACP. I have only had mine since February, but it has quickly become one of my all-time favorite handguns, single or double-action. They are available in either .45 Colt or ACP, and I think the sights are regulated for the heavier bullets. I worked with mine, gave it a "Poor Boy's Trigger Job," shot several hundred rounds of different brands of 230 grain hardball to determine that it actually was shooting low and left, then started judiciously filing the sights to get it to POA at about 20 yards. This is the result. I might tweak it a little more, but I doubt it. A nine shot string, seven of them in or touching a 2" bull from 20 yards is acceptable, I think. Here is the little Ruger with a holster from Lobogunleather.com. I believe a set of stags with a good bit of bark would look good on it.

Ha same gun as me Boge , that is cool ! Redlevel very nice ! Ok as far as my first range session with my first SA , I love the way the gun shoots, recoil with .45LC was a lot less than I expected. Looking at the size of the bullet I was expecting it to kick like a .44 mag . I had to move my rear sight as far to the right as possible and Im still shooting left . This is just a totally different feel for me , Im thinking I would like the trigger to be a little lighter but Im going to go and shoot it again tomorrow . This is the best group I could get and I was only at 10 yrds .

Great looking gun. I was so glad to see Ruger use white grips with OM emblems. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Thank You Lee
I like the look of the white grips but I want to have a set of stags made soon and was unsure if I should have the emblem put in .
