Hey Guys, Single Action Sickness strikes again....darn these tings multiply fast! I just picked up a Single Six Hunter and put a scope on it. I'd like to eek as much accuracy out of it as possible. I've searched for benchrest techniques for a single action revolver and have not found much. Do you guys have any tips? Thanks, Scott

We talk about this pretty often on the castboolits forum, as there are a few of us trying to shoot rifle groups with revolvers. Some quite successfully.
There are a few techniques mentioned. It would be worth a search over there.
With a .22, you have a lot more room for error than with a big bore revolver.
In general, rest the muzzle on a sandbag (don't shoot it), grips sit on another sandbag (adjust heights as needed) and set yourself up weaver style with your arms flat on the bench. Rest your cheek on your strong arm's shoulder. Squeeze and follow through so you don't disturb the gun before the bullet leaves the barrel. Don't be surprised if your POI changes when shooting like this, especially with things that have significant recoil. But this is the "steadiest" way.

Twenty-twos are notorious for their ammo sensitivity. After you get your bench technique down pat, then buy a box of as many different .22 brands as you can find and afford. Keep records and you will very shortly find the ammo that works best in your revolver. Then, buy as much of the same brand and lot # as you can stand. You will be "good to go"...
Good shooting!

Groo here For years I have used the following: Take some sandbags 2 or three or a rest that gets you off the bench. Form a pocket in the bag to rest your OFF hand. Cup your shooting hand and gun in your off hand . With a heavy kicker the gun hand will rise out of the off hand [ like pics of Keith] This will help the gun to shoot about the same place as standing. Ps Some grip cal combinations will not shoot well of a rest .. [usually short barreled guns for me]

Groo here Forgot the most important thing --- Do not let the bottom of the butt touch anything,,, This will mess up the vertical

I use the same technique Groo does. I've also seen pictures of Hamilton Bowen shooting the same way.
