Has anyone ever put a Bisley grip frame on a BFR? Was it simple?
I have never handled a BFR, but I do like they way my Ruger Bisley handles recoil and was thinking the same benefits of the Bisley grip may make the BFR more recoil friendly.
The BFR looks like a plowhandle type frame for which I have some experience. When I pushed the recoil on it in a Ruger it wasn't as comfortable as the Bisley.

I believe one or two have been converted like this but I think it was a real fitting chore. One of the guys will pipe up soon and confirm or deny. It might even have been Lee himself.

Jack Huntington has done this conversion and it requires a lot of work. The Bisley doesn't quite look right on the BFR frame IMO. There is an alternative, though. Huntington, also performs an extension to the grip frame that works really well.

We did one and never again. It basically involves a lot of cutting and welding (you Frankenstein a BFR and Bisley backstrap together). And in the end it doesn't look right. The lower frame profile on the Magnum doesn't flow well with the Bisley. Hands down the best grip design I've seen for the BFR is Jack Huntington's extension: My 475 BFR is getting the same treatment as pictured above. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Jack's extension with Harton fitted grips. Not the prettiest but feels right, works well.

The top Huntington extensions looks awesome. Did he do something different on the lower one? It looks different than the white gripped one.

I am still fairly new to the BFR but though I dont get excited about the looks of the rubbers that come stock, they do enhance its shootability as I really dont like wearing a shooting glove and I dont have to with these.

They look okay with the stock Micarta grips, but they are definitely not ideal.

Jack's extension with Harton fitted grips. Not the prettiest but feels right, works well. Are those grips relatively thin? I had mine made as thin as they could be and I feel I am able to grip the revolver tighter without getting the shakes as compared to fatter grips. Also, the BFR grip frame is wider than a Ruger which makes thicker grips that much worse.

Heres a left side view same as boxheads, Jack or maybe Harton might have rounded the bottom of the grip. Also here is a pic with the Custom shop white Micarta grips which were fitted very well.
