Whit....just to prove we're all set for Saturday, here's what your 500 Maximum will be digesting: It's my standard load of 38.0 grs. of AA1680 and the 525 WFN. And don't worry.....it is 1680 in there. I only used the old 2400 can as a backdrop. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Thanks for getting on this. I'm going to be putting another order for 200 bullets in to keep them in the pipeline.
Those cases cleaned up nicely. I would have tumbled them myself, but I can't seem to find about half of my reloading stuff (still in boxes)! I didn't think that 4227 funk would come off!
I am glad you clarified the 2400 can! ;D

We're going to get you set-up to reload this year Whit. It's almost therapeutic assembling these things. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

I found a box last weekend with my old Lee handloader in it and a number of other items including some dies, but some of my stuff is conspicuously missing. I wish I knew where my tumbler was.......this is very frustrating!

I'm not setting you up to load 500 Max on a Lee Handloader Whit . We'll get you into a nice Redding press (or something similar). -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Dillons are excellent. I still use single-stage, but there's nothing wrong with progressives (unless we're talking politics). -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Nice looking group of boys you've got there!
Tell me about that 525gr boolit. Is it too long/heavy for a 500L? Are you casting them? If so, what mould/maker?

Cast Performance sells them and they're quite a slug. Extremely accurate in my 500 Max at 1,300 - 1,350 fps and they'll penetrate to no end. I haven't shot them in my 500 Linebaugh yet but they'll work. My initial load will be 25.0 of H110. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

No Snyd, definitely not too long for the .500 Linebaugh. I know several folks who have used that bullet out of their .500 Linebaughs (at about 1,100 fps) on big game (and seen its effectiveness on bison) and it absolutely hammers game even at those subdued velocities. I have used a 500 grain LFN in my .500 Linebaugh (also from Cast Performance), and it has proven accurate and very effective on game (shot a moose and a black bear with that bullet).

Thanks guys. I've got in my mind that I want 2 moulds/loads. 350ish and 500ish. I see another member here is making a 350gr mould with a lot of the boolit in the case for a plinkin load. It looks pretty good. On the other end I want to go as heavy as practical for the 500L. 525 at 1100 sounds perfect. I wonder if a gas check is really needed...if it makes that much difference with the 500L at that velocity. Have you guys done any comparison with gc vs pb boolits in the .510? On another note.... Gallagher shipped my 5.5" .510 Octagon barrel yesterday with integrated sight ramp and erh lug and I've got all the Bisley parts. The 5.5 NM flattop octagon bisley 500L is beginning to take form
