Anyone have a scope on their 357 maximum, if so, what mount are you using, I'd like to scope mine for a while to test my new 205 gr LBT slugs. My mounts on the SBH are too short for the Maxie frame.
Thanks, Dick

What typed of mount are you using for the SBH already Dick? I would have thought that the Leupold one piece that fits in the sight slot on the rear would have worked since the extra length was out front but I could be wrong.

That extra cylinder frame length will rule out the weaver mount that I use on my 300 GNR.. Does B Square make anything that might work? B Square stuff is butt ugly but might get you through the accuracy testing without drilling holes in the top strap...

One thing I won't do is drill & tap my gun, not that important to scope it, I'd just like to give it a little test run. Not really a scope guy on my handguns but this one has some real long range potential with this new LBT 205 gr gas checked slug, it really shoots in my gun. The no drill, no tap mount on my 44 is probably a B Square but I can't find anything on their website, & like Axe said, because of the longer frame they won't interchange, I tried. I have deer, elk & antelope on the schedule this fall & might need to "stretch" things out there a little. ;D Took this buck 2 years ago with the maxie, 108 yds, cast slug, iron sights. It really done a number on his heart & lungs. Dick

Any of the Leupold mounts should work. They are usually about $35 or so I think. I just don't remember if you had to drill and tap with it or not. I'll have to look, if so, that is a no go. I think I still have a new one in a bag in the console of my truck. I was going to try and modify it to fit a 375 Supermag just to see what it would do. Its a stainless version but if you are just wanting to try it out, I don't know if you mind the color difference. I'll mail it out to you with the barrel that I have forgotten to mail to you. I'll be back in town late tonight and can drop it in the mail tomorrow if you want to use it. Better you use it now than after I get to filing on it to see if I can make it fit the other topstrap Let me know if you want to try it and I'll drop it in with the barrel. If its a drill thing, I'll not even worry with it and mail that barrel to you tomorrow by itself.

You do have to drill and tap for the Leoipold mount, so it's a no go, unless you don't mind that thev holes are covered by the rear sight when you pull off themount

No I won't drill & tap it, really not that important, just something I wanted to try for a few days. I might have a Wyoming deer or antelope tag in the mail & things can get a bit western over there in all that wind. ;D
Glen, thanks for the offer.

How do those hold in the front, do they clamp to the side of the frame, or is ther some other way, because best I can tell, the only thing holding that mount on is the rear sight screw and maybe the cross pin

There's a little nylon washer under the phillips screws you see in the front that clamp on the frame. There's also two tension screws around the sight screw and one toward the front, if I remember right, to keep any vibration from breaking the sight screw. Frank, I think his name is, say's he's been using this set up on his SRH 454 for years. I've not had any problems with it yet either.... Papa
