A while back I spoke to Jack Huntington about converting an older Vaquero 44 mag to 50 JRH. He suggested putting a Smith and Wesson model 60 rear sight on it. My intended use would be mostly target but also deer hunting if I get good enough with it. Any body have any pictures of a Vaquero with a model 60 Smith and Wesson sight on it?

I've seen a pic of one before. It looks real nice & something that I've been considering for my SS Bisley Vaquero.

Here is a Clements S&W style sight on a vaquero. Kind of tough to see because it snugs in so nicely. This is a actual S&W sight on an SP101.

Thanks Kings6 that is just what I needed to see. I have been thinking fluted cylinder and color case hardened frame and hammer just as pictured too. Barrel band up front, round barrel, with a front sight that would let me change out the blades. I have been thinking that maybe in certain situations a fiber optic front blade might help my old man eyes pick up on a white tail. Mostly close shots and lots of brush where I hunt. Ya Bagdadjoe looks like I need more of a drool bucket than a drool towel to look at Bowen's stuff. The way he blends the long foot on that sight into the top of the gun is amazing. DANG!

For whatever its worth, I'd advise you to simply go with a Super Blackhawk or Blackhawk instead.
This happened to me: I had a .357 Magnum Colt SAA sighted with a S&W rear sight. At about 3,000 rounds, I noticed my groups starting to climb, real bad. Examining my gun, the barrel angled down from the frame, enough so that the rear of the cylinder bound against the top strap. Thought I had reduced my Colt to a parts gun, but was able to get it realigned. Apparently the milling of the frame had weakened it somewhat. I know of other conversions that have shot millions of rounds without ill effet, so I'm told, but this happened to my gun.

Bob I have been considering that as well. I have 2 blackhawks but neither of them has a bisley grip. suppose I could take the bisley off the vaquero for one of the blackhawks, that would keep the cost down a couple of hundred. Have to swap out the hammer and trigger as well. Probably be cheaper and easier to just find a donor blackhawk bisley. Never did need much of an excuse to get another sixshooter.

Personally, I'd like to have a rear like the one on my 1991A Colt, but windage nudgeable and a gold bead on the front. Gold shows up surprisingly well. A friend had one on the front of an early Clements .475 and I've kinda wanted to try one since. Saw a photo not long ago where someone had two horizontal gold bars on the front, regulated for different distances/loads. It's endless.

Groo here I have a NV bisley 357 that Andy Horvath converted to 41mag.. We put an S&W [ Round front] Sight on it... There looks like plenty of steel on the top strap left [ as much or more as on my 475 l fixed sight].
