I already posted my story over on the RugerForum.com, but I'm so tickled with this sixgun that I thought I'd share. This is my first big bore single action revolver. I have a 4 5/8" bbl. Single Six that is one of my all time favorite firearms, and I've been pining for a bigger brother for almost a decade. The grip panels are from Ruger. The picture on top was taken outside and shows the figuring and color far better than the lower. Because of my new gun (and the ridiculous cost of .44spl ammo), I've also started handloading. Lots to learn, but it has been a lot of fun so far. I don't have much more planned for it, except a higher front sight for heavier bullets and perhaps dimpling the ejector rod and maybe a #5 base pin. And to shoot it...a lot! You guys are a bad influence with all your custom work, so I'm already trying not to think about some tasteful western scroll engraving... Take care, William

Great looking revolver. I especially like the pic with the map background.
Makes me wish I had waited for the stainless instead of buying the blue.
By the way, you're right about the "lots to learn" handloading comment. Make sure you go back to read in your manual the chapter about seating primers! ;D

I like everything about that gun. And Ruger fulfilling your wish for a stainless 5.5" flattop 44 Spl. is especially neat. I have the same gun but with a factory 4 5/8" tube: After seeing yours I've been tempted to rebarrel it with a 5.5" -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Makes me wish I had waited for the stainless instead of buying the blue. ;D Jeeeese , I fell for blue and round top. I sure miss the adj. sights but if I had them what would I blame all those misses on?

I grabbed a NM FT 5.5" in blue too, then snatched up a S.S.S. Sheriffs too. Time to start thinking of holsters. steve b

Nice looking specials all around. I'm still holding out for a stainless bisley.

;D Never mind, I went to the Ruger Board and read the story, first time I've ever heard of Ruger doing such a thing.
