Hey guys,
I have been wanting a Freedom Arms 97 in .45 colt with a 5.5 inch barrel and adjustable sights for many years but either didn't have the money or couldn't find one. I've been looking for one locally or even used for a decent price instead of ordering one for full price from the factory. I'm sure most of you know, when they pop up, they don't last. The one time I found one for sale, I hesitated about 10 minutes and it sold.
Here is my question, I have the chance at a model 97 in .357 locally with adjustable sights and 5.5 barrel for a good price. I really have no use for a .357 and already have a gorgeous Python that never gets used. What do you think the chances are that I could find someone who would want a .357 and has a .45 Colt they would want to trade? Or should I just let it go and keep looking for one in .45 Colt and not hesitate next time? I'm doubting anyone will want to get rid of their .45's but there might be a chance.
I thought about buying the .357 and just shooting it and keep looking for a .45 but just dont' think I would use the .357 much and not sure I would have the cash to buy two, it's been hard enough justifying one of these things.
Thanks,
mnimrod45

I think you already know the answer. Get what you want. Know what you're willing to pay, what options you're willing to pay for and which one's you're not. Don't spend all that money on a 357 if it's not what you want, cause f you do, I guarantee you're 45 will pop up for the right price. It took aa while but I got mine. Just be ready.

"I really have no use for a .357 and already have a gorgeous Python that never gets used"
Why would you get a gorgeous model 97 in .357 that would also get no use?
Keeping a python that you don't shoot because you don't like its cal. seems odd. Why not sell the Python then order exactly what you want?

I agree with the others..hold out and get what you want. I think your chances of getting a FA 357 and then trading would be slim at best. Seems to me most FA owners have ordered what they wanted and keep them. You see them for sale from time to time, but rarely see someone wanting to trade. JMO. Mine is a 44 special, and I ain't tradin' Dan

The two .45s would be the last to go if I had to get rid of something and yes, I do shoot all of them. Paul

That's a nice deal there. When deals like that come around you gotta be quick. The other one above is a good deal too, you just have to know what options you are willing to pay for and which ones you won't.

mnimrod45 if you decided not to buy that 357 model 97 would you let me know where it is? I've been wanting to buy one but haven't found a good deal on one.
Thank you,
Larry
