The most important overall characteristic of a custom sixgun to me is proportion. Proportion is arrived at by attending to any number of small details. The factory front sight on a Single Six or the aluminum fronts on the BFRs are just 2 examples. We have sent out a number of replacement front sight blanks for the Single Six and have recieved some pretty positive feedback. The BFR sights should start going out a bit faster as we now have the jigs we need to cut the specific angles thus reducing set up time.
Set up time is what costs you so much when you are having a custom rig done. Its far easier to have the parts and pieces already in place when you are trying to have custom work done on your sixgun rather than your favorite smith having to fabricate them.
We are working on several items at this time. The Single Six and BFR front sights you already know about. But some other projects will be started in a couple of weeks. These include but are not limited to:
Installation of a taller pinned in front sight for your Ruger with a too short front sight. Details to follow as this isnt so simple as it sounds. King style mirrored front ramp sights. #5 style latch component sets. #5 style sight sets.
These should make for some very interesting upcoming projects. I would be interested to hear what you guys would like to see next!
Last, if any of you have a Ruger 10-22 rifle and wish to have it threaded for use with a suppressor, PM me for instructions. If you need a tactical style bolt handle replacement on your Remington 700 we can handle that as well for a very reasonable price.

Awesome. I've been asking Powers to offer #5 latch parts for several years. A TLA-style front sight would be great too, if the post is long as on his early guns. Not sure why no one offers an FTT-style grip frame to boot.

It would be far easier to weld up a Ruger mainframe. A Flat top target frame could be produced but it would take quite a few presold units to produce.

I talked with Madbo a while back and he was working on some sights also. You need to touch base with him, I think you two are on the same page

Opinion- The new large frame Reeder seems a bit more ungainly than the old, to me. Pictures of Reeder's old big frame are hard to find BUT those of you who have access to both or pictures of both, is the new large frame more ungainly than the old. I am going mostly by memory, and one old one I did see recently on Gunbroker, but to me the new one is not as well proportioned as the old.

The new Reeder Max has a BFR like profile. I too like his first version which was closer to the Ruger Maximum.

Ok, I have an idea. How about banded front sights bases that give a Nimrod type look, but attach with the sight screw? Make them slightly undersize to allow the end user to open them up to fit with a split rod and crocus. They would likely require solder on heavy calibers, but I'm guessing they'd be ok on "normal" calibers. Or make them "clamp" on too.
How about a way to keep ejector rod housings on heavy kickers? That people without a full machine shop can do/install?
You could combine these ideas somehow.

Subsonic, I have considered that project. The biggest problem is that many barrels on say a 5.5" guns are tapered where on the Nimrod or Linebaugh style guns the barrels are straight. Not insurmountable, but installation would require that the banded part of the barrel have the taper cut out. It then remains to fit the front sight base to the taper of the barrel. The larger the caliber, the less likely it will be able to be attached by screws. Ive always thought lots of parts equals more stuff to fall off or come loose on your gun. Plus, if one is going to spend the money to do all of that, it may be cheaper and more reasonable to start with a quality barrel blank in the first place.

That ejector rods do not want to stay on barrels only serves to illuminate what I described above about parts flying off your sixgun when attached by screws that arent strong enough to handle the torque.

I will be interested in a King mirrored ramp front sight for a Colt SAA.
