Would you say a factory .45-70 round, shot out of a 7.5 barrel length handgun, would have less effective range than factory loads of a .454 Casull,.460 Magnum, S&W .500 Mag. or a .50 cal blackpowder long rifle loaded to who knows what?? Just gathering some information. The .45-70 loads in question are Winchester 300 grain Super X.

Just off hand I would say they are all pretty close. If you a researching for your range issues I would proceed with caution. Too much information is just as bad as not enough to the wrong person. If its a military base there definately is someone in command, and from my experience they dont always (hardly ever) appreciate being questioned. Such as well my 45-70 is no different than a 44 mag in pistol form and heres the proof,CO who may not be friendly says well by God your right, new rule nothing but 22 rimfires allowed from now on.
