anybody see last night's episode pitting a flintlock and a .45 H&k and a Colt SAA? It was bad enough that during the narration of the history of the Colt SAA, they kept showing pictures of the Schofield and a Remington but when showing how to load an SAA, somehow the loading gate ended up on the wrong side of the gun. How they managed to print small segments of the film backwards, I don't understand.

I noticed the same two things and first I thought that maybe, just maybe they had a TLA. Maybe someone in the editing department just grabbed some file footage without having a clue. Colby Donaldson does know how to shoot and seems to have a decent handle on knowledge but perhaps he doesn't see the final cut.

I can't bear to watch any of these "reality" type shows. Top Gun has really degraded since the first season.
Stuff like this is why I said "NO" without hesitation when I was approached about doing a Gunblast reality show.

I can't stand reality shows especially "gun" reality shows... But I'd actually watch a Gunblast show! Or something where real gun people would discuss and evaluate different models, and maybe invite gunsmiths, designers, and knowledgable enthusiasts to join in. Instead of just having reps doing sales pitches...
It'd be cool to see them do decent comparisons too. I understand why they went with pre, and post modern, but its a wide and crappy spread... Going from flintlock, to revolver, to polymer enhanced autoloader seems to only cater to the people that know NOTHING about guns. If they did an episode on single-shots, and went from flintlock, to TC Encore/Contender, to Bolt Action; I think the show would be more relevant. Or like SA, DA, or Auto-Revolver comparisons. You get the point...

I like Sons of Guns but like all of these shows they are trying too hard to get the melodrama thing going and its getting pretty annoying! Also I really dont know why they feel the need to do a phony blowup on every freaking show they do! Just stop it already!

I don't have much use for them myself BUT at least there is quite a few shows out there that are portraying firearms in a positive light to the general public.

The TLA ran through my mind as well, however, I remembered them as having a different shape from the Colt SAA. I would still like to know the technical aspect of what happened. It was the same gun but with some of the film printed backwards. I have it on tape and mean to go back and study it further. As further confirmation that part of the footage was printed backwards, the watch and ring of the shooter are on the left hand in one shot and the opposite hand in the reversed footage. Kind of a modern day version of the infamous Billy The Kid photo.

The tannerite charges in the targets are a real disservice. Now most of the non shooting public thinks that an AK round will blow a human to small pieces and a 50 cal will take out a house.

But of course they do...anyone that's ever seen the crap that comes out of Hollywood knows that... As well as all cars explode when rolled, or shot in the gas tank!

I generally like the show and watch it every week. Some details are inaccurate but I enjoy the shooting.

Top Gun would be OK, if they got rid of the loud mouthed announcer, or had him do it in the serious professional manner they do at Golf matches.
His shouting makes it sound silly.
Now Top Gear is a pos as far as shows go, and the the one with the supposed gunsmith in, I think, Colorado is a pathetic insult to shooters and the gun industry.

Top Guns and Top Shot are not reality shows, or even close. IMHO, Top Guns is kind of weak but I thoroughly enjoy Top Shot. Top Shot is basically a game show but does the best job of portraying shooters in a positive manner.
I noticed the S&W's and Remingtons that kinda snuck in there in the stuff about the SAA. Still trying to figure out why they used patches in Top Guns but not in Top Shot.
Top Gear is a British automotive show.
