Looking for a bullet mold to use for my .50 Special. Not having a lot of luck through normal channels, either for bullets (which are very expensive) or a mold. Just curious if anyone has a .512ish mold laying about that you no longer need.

Steve, I bought a slew of 500 Linebaugh stuff a couple of years ago and it includes 3 or 4 molds. It even includes a new Miha mold I recently got. I will ship all of them to you to use if you want since Dustin is months or years away from finishing my 500L.
Let me know,
Robb

Robb,
That would be awesome! I've shot up all the bullets that came with the gun over the last couple days. Boy, does it shoot well. I thought finding a mold would be easier than it is turning out. I greatly appreciate it!

Steve, have you given a report on how the gun shoots? I'd be very interested to hear about your loads and the gun.

Steve, have you given a report on how the gun shoots? I'd be very interested to hear about your loads and the gun. No, I haven't. Been taking a break from work and doing some shooting the last couple days. Shot the last of the ammo today. The gun came to me with 10 loaded rounds, a hundred pieces of brass, and 51 bullets. The bullets were split between 350-grain .512" WFNs and 360-grain .512" LFNs. Loaded them over 10 grains of Unique and was getting 869-890 fps. The LFNs seemed to do better in the accuracy department, but with only 60 rounds total, it was hardly a signficant test. The gun has a steel XR3-RED grip frame (from a short-barreled Super Blackhawk) and has a tendency to roll up a bit more than I'd like during recoil. Recoil is a heavy push, but feels less than a .44 Magnum by far. I would prefer a Bisley grip frame, but beggars can't be choosers (found the gun at a show). Accuracy was quite good and it was a pleasant gun to shoot. We speculated a fair amount on how much penetration we'd get with these loads - certainly more than most game animals could take).

Check out a web site called "Mountain Molds" in Idaho. You can design the mold you want and Dan will make it for you/ It's real easy to do.

Interesting - I was just on his website. When I first posted this, it appeared to me that he didn't go past .500" in his molds. I've since discovered how to get to .512" bullets on the design page. Still would be happy to buy used molds, though.

I should never have handed that gun back to it's owner when he took it out of his glass case to let me have a look!
