I've been sort of out of touch for awhile.
Recently went to a gun show and sold one of my Smith & Wesson Model 29s. This gun was fair high mileage, 15,334 round fired through the gun. It was pinned and recessed and had had an 8 3/8" full lug barrel installed by Smith, but I had gunsmith Bob Mason cut it back to 6". He did a masterful job, I might add, in milling out and fitting the front sight back in place. But, I was ready for it to go.
For what, you may well ask? Trying to save up for a .44 Special New Frontier, 4 3/4" barrel.
Yessir, that's my dream gun.

They are nice although I've never held a 4.75" barreled one, mine's 7.5 which is all I've seen up here in WA.

Hate to mention this, but you will have to wait until Colt decides to build a .44Spl in 4 3/4" in the current production run. There were no 4 3/4" .44Spl guns made in the 2nd or 3rd Generations (i.e. - they do not exist from the factory).
