I received notice today that my 45 Colt Montado will be done early next week, Mr. Clements also told me the forcing cone was off center from the factory, he is fixing that for me as well.
I asked him to install adjustable sights and action job, as the fixed sights, even after filing the groove as far as I could was printing 5-6 inches to the right at 15 yards.
I have never seen a Montado converted, I'm sure it will be exceptional!

Groo here Got to love those Montados.... I had Andy Horvath convert one to 41mag about a year ago. What sight did you use?

I thought I had some close up pics. Oh well. The one in the middle on the right is an Alan Harton Montado. S&W rear adj sight, custom front base and patridge blade. Free spin pawl, Colt crescent style ejector rod button, fitted a birdshead grip I traded for the Montado grip, black powder chamfer on the cylinder face, reamed throats to .4525" and an eeeeeeeeeexcellent action tune/trigger job. Best NM action I have ever felt on a Ruger. You're gonna love yours.

I'll tell you how forcing cones get off-center. It all starts with the barrel blank being non-concentric. Definitely shouldn't happen, but I've seen more than one factory revolver with this affliction. -Lee www.singleactions.com
