Will the Ruger XR3 Red alum. grip frame hold up to heavy recoil? I like this frame but question how well it will hold up with 500 Linebaugh loads. I dont like the Bisley frame

Seems like I have read about them breaking but I don't remember the circumstances. I don't believe that breaking is a common problem with the XR3-Red. Properly fitting and verifying that there are no casting flaws might go a long way toward assuring their not breaking. In a 500L you might even break before it does. There are steel XR3-Red grip frames out there..

Why would you want an aluminum grip frame on a big pounder like that?

I am comfortable with the XR3 right up to the Keith .44Spl load. Any more than that and I need a Bisley. You will give up long before the sixgun does.

All the broken grip frames I've seen have had rubber grips on them. Lowers the hold, changes the geometry… more leverage at the wrong place?
