I just got one! (The P220 magazine serves as a "speedloader" for carry. The Remora clipless IWB holster holds this gun perfectly throughout an active day. Carried it that way on a vigorous hike in the foothills today - it was comfortable and comforting.) Here are some velocities that I was able to measure (5950'>sea level, 41°F, c. 15% humidity): Winchester Ranger RA45TP 230-gr +P Talons: M 932.0 fps/ES 35.86/SD 12.12 (These were not the most accurate - I shot two six-round groups with them and neither was tight. Neither was troublingly bad however, and that's what I'm keeping in the gun for social work at the moment.) Velocity 200-gr RNFP/ 5.5 gr Bullseye: M 845.0/ES 28.55/SD 11.78 Same bullet/ 7.2 gr Power Pistol: M 876.0/ES 28.70/SD 9.79 (Benched groups from these two bullets are visible in one of the pix above. Just like with the birdshead SAA that I used to have, this gun groups every bit as well off hand as it does from the bench. I shot 50 rounds each of these two loads, mostly off hand. Enjoyed accurate one-hand shooting with them as well, using both strong and weak hands.) The gun seems very well put together and the grip feels really good as does the heft of the thing. The trigger is not bad, but it's nothing to write home about. I may have someone mess with it later, but weight is not the issue.

10 yards, nolongcolt (I actually wrote the distance on the target along with the loads, but it might not be easy to see). I'm really liking the thing - very easy to carry.

Erich,
What's the model number on the Remora.
Thanks,

Argh - don't have it with me, Paul. It's the same one for a Ruger P90. Just looked it up for you: it's the #11. www.remoraholsters.com/uploads/Fitment_Chart_By_Gun_Type-r.pdfAnother size might actually fit better, though - I just used one that I already had around. Alan or Jacqui at Remora will aim you in the right direction (give them Erich's regards - Alan bought me a couple of beers when I was down in FL last spring; he's a great guy).

Liked that model from the larger one to these newer models--had a plowhandle sheriffs model it shot good groups--it went to OHIO on a trade-------

I do like it, Frank . . . and you deserve a lot of the blame thanks for that.

We aim to please! ;D ;D ;D
Seriously, I really like the Ruger platform. Especially now with the New Vaquero/Blackhawk size. They make a great packing six-gun, & one that's not likely to fail anytime soon. Congratulations again. One day I'm going to have to try that Remora holster with the reinforced mouth. Frank

The reinforced mouth does add thickness to the holster as it rides IWB. I like it for my non-Ruger DA revolvers (the Rhino, the DS, the S&Ws) insofar as the reinforcement makes it so that the cylinder is not rocking back and forth, imparting rotational force to the cylinder bolt (I've yet to see a Ruger that gives a hoot). Most people get the reinforced top to allow reholstering, but I'm not a gun gamer and I've yet to experience the need to reholster my gun IWB in a hurry. Anyhow, I've got several Remoras of each type, but I tend to find the regular, non-reinforced type to be more comfortable.

How much does the gun weight? I suspect the Ruger advertised weight is not the actual weight

I'm sorry, I don't know on the weight. Thanks, Whitworth - I really like it.
