Grover made very few .357s. I'm going to bid on that one, depending on how high it goes. This will be a case of rarity not necessarily equaling desirability, as most folks aren't interested in a .357 #5. If you wind up winning it, I'd really like a survey form filled out on it for my research.

Ok, I will let you know. I plan on bidding on it for my wife! I hope you get it. A friend of mine had one (he passed away late last year) I've shot it quite a bit. His was a .44, they are great guns. If you get one, I know you will like it. Good luck. Frank

The add states that this is a pre order gun. If memory serves me correctly Bill did not make the very early guns with a screw that went though the grip panels he used the colt style. He was very apprehensive about the fact that people would not like the screw through the panels.
Later he found that it was a manufacturing necessity to put the screw through the grip panels due to the difficulty of making a single piece grip panel and having a 2 piece grip frame.
Very nice gun and worth the money if you want the revolver.

Agrizz,
He says "per order," meaning he special ordered it in .357 Magnum. This is a fairly late production TLA. I have some of the history of this gun.
The #5 requires the use of 2-piece stocks as the upper backstrap screw holes are covered by the panels. For his other models, one-piece stocks were standard, as the upper backstrap screw holes are accessible with the stocks on the gun.

Too bad that one piece grips couldn't have been fashioned for the #5. Fortunately, no such problem with the Border Specials.
Quinn, cubrock.....recognize these? Or was it the 45 that you got, Boge?

Beautiful - I do love my 45 Border Special!
I also upgraded my #5s last fall - got a matched pair of CCH #5s, in 44 Magnum and 45 Colt, with original matching presentation-grade walnut stocks by Tedd Adamovich. The victim previous owner didn't want his name put out there for some reason, so I haven't said a lot about it. I'll see if I can scrounge up some pics.

Should be on its way to NC soon. I'll have more to say when it gets here. Now, if I could just find that legendary .32-20 #5 that may or may not exist....
