Placement, placement, placement! His first shot actually stopped the fight (he kept shooting, though), and hit CNS. He's one hell-of-a-shot and pretty cool under pressure.

That is about the most amazing video I have ever seen. I think that was a combination of skill and luck! Ok.... more skill, but still luck was in there too!

I have that DVD and it is full of great shooting. Lynn Thompson could hold clinics on shooting multiple moving targets!

Placement, placement, placement! Without a doubt, but still not the best choice of loads, probably. I'm more concerned with penetration, just wondering why Lynn isn't.

Gee. I don't know the guy and hadn't heard of him.
I'd just have to question anyone hunting a buff (what kind was that) with a spear. How could you question a .454 when he was hUnting with a spear?

He is the president and CEO of Cold Steel and the producer of said spear.

Good that he field tests his products.
Hope his succession plan and insurance is current.

Lynn is a bit different (understatement of the year) and he lives his life on his terms. He takes his handguns as serious as his knifes and everything else he does. He told me he tried hard to shoot at least 500 rounds a week through his handguns and trains in martial arts and knife fighting everyday. He is the world champion at knife fighting with the worlds record for the fastest match ever in competition when he was twice the age as his opponent.
I think he has gone to Africa with his 454 Freedom Arms 4 or 5 times at least and I think he has taken the big 5 with that gun, most of these were done 15-20 years ago. Lynn is one of a small handful (something less that 10 people) who are permitted to hunt in Australia with a handgun. Lynn goes to Australia to shoot stuff, hundreds of pigs, water buffalo, kangaroos, etc. He hunts with a spear because the handguns were getting too easy.
I know he is extremely limited to what loads he can shoot in Australia, it has to be a major brand of factory ammo with import licensing to Australia. I know he told me two years ago that he took a 44 mag and shot the 300gr XTPs because it was the heaviest load he could get in Australia at the time for his handguns but that he was extremely pleased with their results while there...
All I know about Lynn is he walks the walk and he has shot more animals with a handgun than 99.99% of the handgun hunters in the world have...

Exactly, Bill. He has taken the Big 7 actually, with a .454. He trains every Sunday with handguns for four hours. He takes the craft VERY seriously to say the very least.
Yup, when he hunts in Australia, he is limited as to what he can use as far as firearms and ammunition are concerned.
