Does anyone own a newer model Uberti SA Revolver with their newest version of a hammer block system?
I have an Uberti El Patron .357/38spl. It has a hammer block system on the hammer. It is on or engaged and I cannot figure out how to disengage it. There are no instructions.
Any input will truly be appreciated.

The cylinder pin has two notch's on it. You want it on the first notch to fire. If you push it in too far it butts up against the safety and will not fire.

I have the Taylor Smoke Wagon and after reading this I went and checked it. Never noticed those two notches before, but I'm sure glad I read this post! Thanks, Don

My Bad, for not getting back to this thread sooner. Thanks for the explanation. It solved the problem! Actually, after looking it over, I am puzzled as to what the reason was for adding this feature. It serves no truly useful purpose that I can see. Anyway, thanks again.

The 2 position cylinder pin meets the requirement tp pass a hammer drop test that is required for SA imports.

This elongated cylinder pin is sometimes called the "Swiss Safe" since I believe it was first used on Hammerlis. I have an older Uberti Iver Johnson Cattleman which has a safety on the hammer itself. Am not sure if any of the Uberti models still use this hammer mounted safety or not. As stated, it was necessary to install a safety in order to meet import requirements. Believe EAA single action revolvers made by Weirauch use a Ruger style safety under license. US made guns are not leaglly required to have such safeties. Ruger installed its safeties in their "New Model" revolvers due to lawsuits not due to legal requirements.

So why do uberti's also have that ugly hammer saftey? Cimarrons dont. Probably because Cimarrons and Taylors are put together in the U.S. Much the same way Glocks are "Made in Austria" but they are assembled in Smyrna, Georgia.

Probably because Cimarrons and Taylors are put together in the U.S. No they're not, they're built in the Uberti factory along with every other importer's guns.

Seems like its either neccessary or it isnt. I dont know why they would they'd put it on there if they didnt have to. It detracts from the looks and historical accuracy and is one more thing to go wrong in the field.

It's done for import purposes. Silly but true.

We all pretty much agree that moronic idiots and ass-clowns design safeties. Nobody but an ass-clown paper pusher is stupid enough to come up with such "ideas". The good news is thus-get a Colt base pin, and fit in into your Uberti. Should work fine, and no more ass-clown idiocy.
