I put one of the wolf extra power hammer springs in my Bisley 45. I think it was the 25lb. The only trouble is the trigger pull went from 3lbs to about 4 or 4 1/2lbs. Can anything be done about this? I have done the poor man;s trigger job.

Yeah, put the stock spring back in. Just kidding. Have you done the "poor mans" trigger job? It means to disconnect one of the trigger return springs legs off the pin under the grip panel.

Another vote here for the poor boy trigger job. I do it to all my Ruger single actions. It'll do the job. Here's a link: www.gunblast.com/Poorboy.htm

Polish the sear engagement surfaces with a fine stone. All of my new model rugers have benefitted from this.

Were you having ignition problems before change?

I've used the Wolff reduced power [can't remember the poundage] trigger return spring but the trigger wouldn't always reset because it was so light.

Polish the sear engagement surfaces with a fine stone. All of my new model rugers have benefitted from this. Sggie01 gave the best solution.... Also the factory sear angle is such that the hammer has to move back before releasing. Changing this helps tremendously. Also, they used to make a better trigger spring than the lighter ones available now. The trigger reset problem with a light trigger return spring is caused by transfer bar pinch. File the second step of the hammer face to remove the pinch and the reset problem goes away.

I have the power custom hammer and trigger. I didn't notice much change in trigger pull when going from a stock to 26lb spring.

The power custom trigger spring will lower your pull. Some have bent the stock return spring legs to get a lower pull weight.
