Guys I know so little about it that I don't know if I'm spelling it right I've Googled it and have found many different spellings and shooting equipment for sale! I really want to learn to use this position. Any guidance, tips or links would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Scott

I assume you mean shooting a handgun? Essentially, for a right handed shooter.its lying down on your back, knees up,left arm under head as a "pillow", right leg leaned to the left and handgun supported on side of right knee and leg. Not to sound stupid, but make sure barrel clears your leg by a good distance and ESPECIALLY 44 mag, probably 357 mag too. or bigger you will ABSOLUTELY need something along the lines of a leather blast shield for your legs. The blast from the cylinder gap is really powerful, blows bark off trees and can shread sand bags so would tear up pant legs and legs underneath. But it is a really accurate way to shoot a sixgun.

In addition to the above dmize description, the right elbow should be on the ground, and the 2 feet should be flat on the ground, with the knees angled together and touching. These points will optimize the steadiness of the position. With handguns of significant recoil, one will also want to wear an elbow pad. IHMSA also requires that the shooter observe a 45 degee "safety cone", where no part of the shooters body crosses within that 45 degree safety cone of the muzzle (It's nice to keep toes, feet, knees, etc in original unpenetrated condition when shooting Creedmore). The Creedmore position, shot properly, affords the shooter an opportunity for incredible accuracy.

I just noticed that you live in N.C. The Catawba Valley Rifle & Pistol Club in Conover should start its Silhouette season in April. Check www.cvrp.org for dates. There's nothing like actually seeing it being done . There also used to be IHMSA sanctioned silhouette shooting clubs in Sanford and Wilmington, but I don't know if they're still shooting.

Thanks for the input guys. I shoot my single actions 1-2 times a week and am looking for a new target shooting discipline I just thought it would be cool/fun to try shooting at 100 yards. I've also looked at some silhouette shooting and it looks interesting. There are some clubs around here that have matches that I may check out. I do appreciate the invite to Catawba and may stop up Scott
